Welcome
Welcome to the website for St Mary & St Ambrose Edgbaston and St Paul's Balsall Heath.
We are two ethnically diverse Anglican (Church of England) churches who work together to serve the people of our local community, and to serve God. Our churches are very different in their buildings, their congregations and in their worship.
St Mary & St Ambrose has a large and elegant late 19th Century church building designed by JA Chatwin in red brick that stands prominently on the Pershore Road near to Edgbaston Cricket Ground and Cannon Hill Park.
St. Paul's shares its building with Balsall Heath United Reformed Church. The building, Balsall Heath Church Centre, was designed and purpose-built in the late 1970s, for worship, community gatherings and as a meeting place for local elderly people. It is on the corner of Mary Street and Edward Road, not far from Heath Mount School and Balsall Heath Health Centre.
Both centre their worship round the celebration of Holy Communion (the Eucharist) and there are special activities for children at both. The two church communities worship together on the 5th Sunday of the month, and on Ash Wednesday and Ascension Day. St Paul's also worships together regularly with Balsall Heath URC. The three churches share Bible studies and other activities throughout the year.
